"I told Coach Saban I wanted to come and he was like, `Are you kidding' when I told him," McCarron said. "He'd been recruiting me hard all this time and he said that in his heart he wanted me to be the guy to lead them to a national championship." Raymond Anthony McCarron Jr. picked up the nickname "AJ" when he was young. The 6-foot-4, 189-pounder is a three-sport athlete and the quarterback of the defending Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A champions.
