Tuesday, 07 November 2006

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee tailback Arian Foster apologized Tuesday for his arrest over the weekend and said he was trying to prevent his teammates from getting in trouble when police reported they saw him shoving another person.

"I put my family's name at risk," Foster told reporters at the Volunteers' weekly football media day. "I'm sorry about that."

Foster, a starter, and two other players were arrested after police were called to a disturbance at a restaurant nightclub early Sunday, several hours after No. 13 Tennessee lost to LSU.

Coach Phillip Fulmer announced Monday that Foster will be suspended for the first half of the Arkansas game on Saturday night. Fullback David Holbert will be suspended for the entire game. Safety Antonio Wardlow will be suspended for the Arkansas game and the Vanderbilt game on Nov. 18.
