Samford DE arrested in bank robbery |

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- A Samford University football player was arrested and jailed on federal bank robbery charges for allegedly holding up a Hoover bank.
Michael Sherrod Hall, a 20-year-old defensive end, was arrested in Douglas County, Ga., Friday morning, two hours after a man wielding a handgun robbed an AmSouth Bank in Hoover, police said. Authorities said they found about $18,200 during a search of the vehicle.
